The Tánaiste Says Plans To Return Over 130 Irish Citizens From Peru Are At An Advanced Stage 

Simon Coveney was speaking eight days after the South American country introduced tight travel restrictions

It's in order to stop the spread of Covid-19. 

The government has chartered a plane to pick up tourists such as Andrew Cotter from Mitchelstown and his girlfriend Marie Barry from Conna, however many are facing long journeys to make it to the capital Lima where the flight is leaving from. 

Speaking to RedFM News, Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney is hopeful a flight will leave Lima in the next 48 hours:
