NEPHAT To Meet On Friday And Discuss The Outbreak Of Covid-19 At Meat Plants Around The Country 

There are now 828 cases of the virus in plants across the country including around 120 employees at Kepak in Watergrasshill.

The National Public Health Emergency Team is to meet on Friday and discuss the large number of Covid-19 cases at meat plants around the country 

There are now 828 cases of the virus in plants across the country - a rise of over 300 in the space of a week. 

The figure includes around 120 employees at Kepak in Watergrasshill.

A leading consultant says a lack of proper social-distancing in meat factories may have led to the spread of Covid-19.

SIPTU has been calling for the introduction of mandatory temperature testing at meat plants and says issues such as car pooling and house shares among workers need to be examined 

Speaking to RedFM News Greg Ennis of SIPTU says they have been working with employers for weeks to try and ensure workers are protected from Covid 19
