CONFIRMED: 10 further deaths from Coronavirus and 200 new cases confirmed in Ireland this evening
The Department of Health have confirmed a further 10 patients in Ireland have passed away as a result of contracting the Coronavirus.
This brings the total amount of deaths in the country to 46 after 14 deaths were confirmed yesterday. 77 is the median age of the 10 deaths today with 8 of the patients male and 2 patients female.
The locations of the deaths are as follows:
- Six in the east of the country
- Three in the north-west of the country
- One in the south of the country
The 200 new cases diagnosed across the country bring the total number of cases in the Republic of Ireland to 2,615.
Earlier today, the HSE held a briefing in which they predicted the peak of the virus in Ireland will occur in approximately 2 weeks time based on current modelling. They also called on members of the public to strictly adhere to the measures outlined by the National Public Health Emergency Team.
15,000 people are currently waiting to be tested for Covid-19.
The HSE have said they are currently testing approx. 5,000 people per day at the 46 centres across the country. Plans are in place to increase the number of centres over the coming days.
