Cancellation of some exams undermine state examinations says Cork principal

A Cork principal says the new measures announced by the Education Minister undermine state examinations.

In a statement issued to RedFM News this morning the Department of Education confirmed the cancellation of the Leaving and Junior Cert oral and practical exams due to the ongoing COVID19 crisis.

Students will now be awarded full marks for the exams, which were scheduled to begin next week.

Elsewhere the deadlines for students to complete projects has also been extended by three weeks with a new due date of May 15th.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Principal of Coláiste Éamann Rís Aaron Wolfe says there were better options available to deal with the situation:
