Towns Across Cork County Told To Prepare For Flooding As Storm Brian Hits
The occupants of Bantry, Clonakilty, Youghal and Midleton are being urged to be prepared for possible flooding as Storm Brian hits Cork.
A Yellow weather warning is in operation for rain until 9pm tomorrow night and a tidal surge coinciding with high tides is expected to occur at 6pm putting these towns at risk of flooding.
The County Council has sand bags available at Council depots for these four areas across the day and is asking people to exercise extreme caution in relation to trees or structures that may have been weakened after Storm Ophelia.
Trees are continuing to fall across Cork and are impacting on a number of previously open regional roads including the Midleton to Dungourney road, the R597 in Glandore, the Ladysbridge to Garryvoe road and the Crookstown to Macroom road.
Tom Stritch is the Director of Service for Roads with Cork County Council and he told RedFM News that a combination of heavy rain and high tides are concerning.
