There Are Claims There Are Nearly More Dead People On The Cork County Electoral Register Than Living

An investigation is to be conducted after Fine Gael's Kevin Murphy raised the issue

The Irish Examiner reports that he raised the concern at the first meeting of newly elected councillors in County Hall

He told the meeting that he had come across a number of cases where voters were entered in the register up to four or five different times.

The council heard that people in different municipal districts had been taken off the register; several people who were on the register for years were removed all of a sudden and some votes who have long since died were still on the register

The County Mayor Fianna Fáil’s Christopher O’Sullivan is to ask officials to compile a report on the matter
