Taoiseach Hears Calls For Establishment Of Independent Commission To Examine Defence Forces Pay

Cork Fine Gael Senator Colm Burke has spoken to Leo Varadkar and Paschal Donohoe about the issue

This is following concerns that the Army, Air Corps and Naval Service will continue to experience recruitment and retention problems.

President Michael D. Higgins hit back at criticism that he had overstepped his role at the end of September after he said members of the Defence Forces should be paid adequate wages, while this week the government announced a €1,270 tax credit for members of the Naval Service who spend more than 80 days at sea.
