Residents and businesses urged to prepare for possible flooding
It comes as Storm Brian takes hold this evening
Cork TD, Pat Buckley made the comments in the Dail as he received assurance from the Minister for Defence that the army is ready to be deployed to the area if required.
Families across East Cork had to be evacuated from their homes following Storm Frank in 2015, and many businesses were left devastated due to flooding.
Met Eireann have upgraded the weather warning to an Orange alert which is expected to stay in place until Saturday.
Speaking to RedFM news East Cork TD Pat Buckley says it is better for people to be prepared for the worst.
