Property experts say rising houses prices cancel out the benefits of the help-to-buy scheme

They say the €20,000 offered under the scheme pales in comparison to the €19,000 year on year increase in prices

The average house price in Cork city has risen by 2% in last three months and by 4.8% in the county 

The average three-bed semi is €142,500 in the county and  €311,000 in the city.

Architect Mel Reynolds says the help-to-buy rules need to change.
