Over 50,000 people across Cork city and county without power
The ESB have advised RedFM News that they expect more power outages
Storm Ophelia is expected to gather pace over the next few hours.
Crews have been dispactached to as many areas as possible, but some have had to stand down because of the weather conditions.
Areas of West Cork are worst affected, with Bandon, Clonakilty / Kinsale/ Macroom / Glengarrif with Ballincollig / Bishopstown / Cobh and Douglas the areas most affected in the city.
The ESB is appealing ot the public to call 1850372999 if they notice any power lines down and not to approach them.
Speaking to RedFM News ESB's Sinead O'Donnell says the situation is expected to escalate over the next two hours.
