More Garda Patrols To Be Rolled Out In The City Following Spike In Violent Incidents In Recent Months

The Echo reports that a meeting of the City Joint Policing Committee heard four Gardaí have been transferred to Cork since the start of the year

The four will join eight Gardaí who were kept on after Operation Open City over Christmas.

Chief Superintendent Barry McPolin also said he expects the area will get another allocation of Gardaí following a graduation ceremony at Templemore Garda Training College this month.

The new 'Operation Soteria' will see an additional Garda presence in the City, which it's hoped will lead to a reduction in assaults, public order offences and robbery.
