Long Delayed West Cork Sex Crimes Unit Expected To Become Operational In The New Year

The Echo reports that the Protective Services Unit in Dunmanway will be staffed by two sergeants and ten Gardaí.
The unit deals with investigations into child abuse, human trafficking and sexual assault.
The announcement follows criticism from the Garda Representative Association who say specially trained officers have been unable to take up their roles in the unit because there are not enough Gardaí to replace them.
