Irishman due in court in England over the deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants

A 40-year-old Irishman's due to appear in court in England over the deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants found in a refrigerated container in Essex.

Ronan Hughes, from Silverstream, Tyholland in Co. Monaghan, has been charged with 39 counts of manslaughter, and one count of facilitating the illegal entry of people into the UK.

He was recently extradited from Ireland and will appear at Southend Magistrates' Court later.
