Gardaí and HSA investigate fatal West Cork accident
Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority have launched separate investigations
The father of five died in a workplace accident on a farm in West Cork yesterday afternoon.
The man - whose name has not yet been released - was fatally injured when he fell from a teleporter while working on his brother -in-law's farm near Clonakilty.
The man, who is from the Enniskeane area, was carrying out repairs to a steel roof on a building at the farm at Kilgarriffe Clonakilty when he fell over 20 feet from the teleporter bucket at around 1pm.
The emergency services were alerted but the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place at Cork University Hospital this morning.
Gardai and Health and Safety Authority inspectors both attended at the scene and both will carry out separate investigations into the tragedy which has shocked the local community.
