Government Criticised For Not Implementing Slaintecare in Budget 2018
A Cork GP has slammed the Government for failing to ring fence funding for the Sláintecare health reform plan in Budget 2018.
Dr John Sheehan says it was disappointing that the Minister for Finance did not mention Sláintecare in his Budget speech.
The plan included a blueprint for reducing waiting lists for all public health services, including the removal of inpatient hospital charges and reducing prescription charges.
The plan also recommended the provision of home care packages and home help hours which the Blackrock GP says is vital in order to properly switch the delivery of health services to the community.
Speaking to RedFM News Dr John Sheehan says the plan would have gone a long way towards solving the current healthcare crisis:
