ESB Restoration Operation Continues Across City & County

The ESB's restoration operation is continuing in earnest with engineers working in difficult conditions since Ophelia hit on Monday.

Customers who are currently off the power grid have expressed their fears that they may be facing a weekend without power as Storm Brian is on track to hit Cork tomorrow.

The worst affected areas in Cork continue to be in Bandon, Dunmanway and Fermoy.

A Met Éireann Status Orange wind warning has been issued for Cork tomorrow and the ESB says this will hamper restoration efforts and should the weather conditions deteriorate even further then crews will be stood down until it is safe to resume repairs again.

Customers are warned that the winds speeds of up to 130 km/h will cause outages to customers on Saturday and any new service interruptions should be reported on esbnetworks.ie or 1850 372 999.

The ESB say they are continuing to work through the outages along with the support of extra crews and the army and are hopeful that they will not have to re-build what they have already repaired.

Denis Cambridge of the ESB told RedFM News that the army are continuing to assist them in clearing timber so they can get everyone back on the power grid :
