ESB hope to restore power to all Cork homes this evening
Over 100,000 homes were knocked off the power grid in the aftermath of Storm Ophelia
However this number has been substantially reduced to just over 4,500.
ESB have been carrying out a major restoration operation since last Monday after severe winds from Storm Ophelia cause havoc to the electricity supply knocking down poles and lines.
Bandon, Fermoy and Dunmway were among the worst affected by the strong winds of Storm Ophelia and homes in these areas still remain without power today.
Storm Brian caused further outages last night to several thousands homes and crews were stood down temporatily due to falling timer and hazardaous.
Speaking to RedFM Denis Cambridge of ESB Networks says affected customers will be contacted through the course of today.
