Cork Has The Highest Number Of Children In State Care In The Country
According to figures released by Tusla, 772 children are in care in the region.
6,006 children were in state care at the end of August- a slight decrease compared to last year- but a 5% decrease on 2015's figures.
5,500 children are in foster care across the country while the others are in residential and other settings.
Catherine Bond, chief executive of the Irish Foster Care Association, says children with disabilities aren't getting the treatment they need:
