Cork City braces for flooding

Residents at Morrissons Island, South Terrace and Wandsford Quay are being advised to take usual precautions

Met Eireann has upgraded the weather warning to an Orange alert for Cork for the next two days as Storm Brian is tacking towards the county 

Winds are expected to reach speeds of 80 km an hour gusting up to 130 km an hour in coastal parts of Cork with coastal flooding expected. 

Speaking to RedFM News Tom Stritch is the Director of Service for Roads with Cork County Council is advising listeners not to make any unnecessary journeys during this weather alert.
