Concept Of A Directly Elected Mayor For Cork May Be Revisited
The recent plebiscite was rejected by a slim majority of voters in Cork city
That's according to the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar who says votes on having a directly elected mayor in Dublin and Galway will likely happen in 2021
Voters across Cork city and Waterford both rejected the recent plebiscites
Cork voted "No" by a very narrow margin with over 34,000 people voted against the proposal for a directly elected Mayor while 33,364 people voted YES.
However The Taoiseach says having a directly elected mayor in Limerick will set the platform for the others:
