Clairty sought on the letting of Cork student accommodation on short term basis to tourists
The Irish Hotels Federation have sought clarity from An Bord Pleanala on whether the operators of a student accommodation block in the city need to apply for a change of planning to rent rooms to tourists on a short-term basis.
Amnis House on the Western road is listed on Booking.com and Expedia however rooms are not availbale to rent at the moment.
The IHF have asked City Council to instruct owners of the complex to stop advertising the property for short term stays and have argued that the original planning stipulated that there could be no change of use.
In a statement issued to RedFM News on behalf of Uninest Student Accommodation operators say Amnis House is available for short term letting for tourist/visitor accommodation outside of academic term times only.
The statement says this is entirely consistent with the permission granted by An Bord Pleanala* and the definition of "student accommodation" under Section 13(d) of the Planning and Development and Residential Tenancies Act.
