Ceremony to thank Defence Forces members to take place in Cork today

A ceremony to thank members of the Defence Forces who provided support during the Covid-19 pandemic is taking place in the city today.

The South/South West Hospital Group have confirmed the LÉ Eithne and her crew are being stood down after spending over three months at Kennedy Quay in the City Centre.

Members of the Defence Forces have been assisting at testing centres across Cork and Kerry since March 20th and have helped with the establishment of mobile testing centres.

They have also manufactured and distributed PPE such as visors and sanitisers and set up a dedicated co-ordination centre at Collins Barracks.
