Calls for retirement age to be raised to 70

The retirement age should be raised to 70, according to the ESRI.

The economic think-tank says the measure needs to form part of plans to cope with our ageing population.

It's also to advise the government that it should postpone cutting tax in the budget to stop the economy overheating.

According to the Irish Independent, the ESRI says the government needs to focus on social housing and a vacant site tax.
