Butterfly Skin Awareness Week Begins Today
Debra Ireland have today launched a campaign to support families across Cork affected by Epidermolysis bullose.
Baby Alana Reid-Sochan from Knockraha suffers from the rare and painful skin condition known as EB or butterfly skin, which leaves most of her body covered in open wounds.
Alana is one of only 300 people across Ireland who suffer from the genetic condition.
Debra Ireland provides support for EB patients and their families and National EB Awareness Week is running from today until the 29th of October.
Speaking to RedFM News Debra Ireland's Judith Gilsenan says the funds will go towards research programmes to find better treatments and possible cures for EB.
