Body Of Homeless Woman Discoverd In Cork City Centre
The body of a homeless woman has been discovered in the city centre this morning
The woman, who was in her 40's, was found under blankets in a doorway on Lower Oliver Plunkett Street near the Cork Simon Shelter on Anderson's Quay at around 11 o'clock this morning
Emergencies services were alerted and a doctor pronounced the woman dead.
Gardai say her death is not being treated as suspicious and the woman was known to homeless services in the city
The body of the woman had been sleeping rough, has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem examination will be conducted
It's the third death in the space of a week in Ireland of people who had been known to homelessness services - two homeless men died within 24 hours of each other in two separate locations in Dublin last week
