An orange wind warning remains in place for Cork
it comes as Storm Brian passes over the country.
Storm Brian has brought wet and windy conditions right across the city and county
Stormy conditions, severe winds and coastal flooding are due throughout the day.
Motorists are being urged to drive with extreme caution today as there may be some surface water and localised flooding.
There are reports of a fallen treen on the Glanmire Road across from the Garda Station.
And Gardai in Midleton are advising people to avoid the Bailick Rd as conditions there are treacherous.
The Ballyduff road in Fermoy is closed due to flooding and diversions are in place.
The weather condtions are having a knock on affect to rail and sea services. Iarnrod Eireann say there will be delays to services due to speed restrictions of 50mph as a result of the orange weather warning.
Delays of 15 to 30 minutes are expected on the Mallow to Tralee service as well as the Cork to Dublin route.
Meanwhile Brittany Ferries services from Cork to Roscoff have also been cancelled.
The National Emergency Coordination Group say that this storm does not present exceptional public safety issues.
Sean Hogan from the NECG says this is the kind of winter storm we are more familiar with.
