Almost 900 Children In Cork Are Awaiting Initial Assessment For Speech And Language Therapy
A children's charity calls for the urgent recruitment of more therapists to address long waiting lists
New figures show that nationally 247 children have been waiting at least two years for an initial assessment.
Another 438 children have been on the list for more than 12 months.
Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show that at the end of July there were 893 children in Cork awaiting initial assessment with 95 of those children waiting over two years. The South Lee area of Cork has been identified as the area with the longest waiting times for speech and language therapy
