30 Trees Fall On Centre Park Road

Centre Park Road remains one of the worst hit areas in the city in the aftermath of Storm Ophelia after 30 trees fell.

The road remains closed as City Council workers work work on clearing the road and making it safe.. 

Over 300 council crews and contractors from the fire brigade, roads, environment and housing departments have been working since daybreak as part of the Storm Ophelia clean up operation.

Some public parks have been shut today due to fallen trees - in total, an estimated 150 trees fell across the city yesterday including the 30 at Centre Park Road. 

In the County - 

All National Roads are passable and crews are continuing to clear fallen trees and debris from Regional and Local Roads.  

Tom Stritch is the Director of Service for Roads with Cork County Council and he told RedFM News that up to 50 crews are out and two roads in West Cork remain closed this lunchtime..
