The Iraq war movie 'The Hurt Locker' has won this year's Oscar for best picture just moments after its director Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman ever to win the best director gong at the Academy Awards. Bigelow and her war portrayal beat off strong competition from former husband James Cameron and his futuristic block buster, Avatar. In total The Hurt Locker walked away with 6 awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing.
