The Carrie Mullane Band
Friday, September 13th
Carrie Mullane is a 22-year old student from Waterford, Ireland. She is now in her final year of college in the CIT Cork School of Music studying Popular Music, Voice.
From a family of musicians, it was no surprise when Carrie decided to pursue a career in music. At a young age, Carrie found herself constantly struggling to enjoy playing classical piano and it wasn’t until her teacher, Jean Upton, encouraged her to play pop music that her love for music truly blossomed. She began writing songs and figuring out harmonies and posted everything on Soundcloud. (If you want to hear a squeaky 14-year old attempting to sing, go check it out!!)
With a background in Musical Theatre, Carrie is not shy of the stage and gives an exciting and enthusiastic performance every time! Some of her finer roles have been ‘Eponine’ in Les Miserables, ‘Bernadette’ in The Beautiful Game and ‘Sarah Brown’ in Guys&Dolls. Carrie has been nominated for several Greenroom Awards over the years.
One of Carrie’s proudest moments was getting the opportunity to perform in the 3 Arena alongside Take That’s, Gary Barlow at the age of 16 as part of the Clontarf Community Choir under Musical Direction of David Hayes.
When she isn’t singing with a band or performing in a theatre, she is a music teacher in several stage schools and community centres between Cork and Waterford teaching lessons in Voice, Piano, Guitar, Ukulele and Pop Choir.
Carrie’s musical inspirations range from Natalie Merchant to Amy Winehouse to Lana del Rey. Her upbringing in folk music can be felt in her performances. Her aim is to evoke an emotion from the audience for every song she plays and she is often praised for her ability to show an understanding of every word she sings.
